MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,643 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,643 m of the 3,518 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 608 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 16R at YSSY Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,015 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 162 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 210 degrees. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was also 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of Kyeemagh, and climbed from an altitude of 1,024 feet above sea level to 37,982 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,958 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 5 miles south west of Krambach and lasted for 22 minutes, covering a distance of 161 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles west of Lawrence, and descended from an altitude of 38,277 feet above sea level to 1,297 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,980 feet, in 26 minutes and covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01R at YBBN Brisbane International Airport was made from the south west, with a heading of 27.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 01R, which had a length of 3,518 meters. The threshold height at 56 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 136 knots.
The touchdown point was 193 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -276 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 100 degrees. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,562 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 415 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 79 minutes. The aircraft used 3,085 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 01R at YBBN Brisbane International Airport, achieving a score of 90.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south-west, heading 27.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with a good threshold speed of 136 knots, which is within the acceptable range for a safe landing.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The threshold height at 56 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was a little fast, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance. The touchdown rate of -276 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, but could have been improved.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 193 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing point. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 6.1 meters from the centerline, which could have resulted in a longer rollout distance. The crosswind and headwind conditions were relatively light, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 100° and a headwind of 2 knots, respectively.
The total landing distance of 1,562 meters was 44% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 11.2 meters from the centerline, which could have resulted in a longer rollout distance and increased the risk of veering off the runway.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were a few areas for improvement. The pilots could have worked on maintaining a more precise approach, reducing the touchdown speed, and improving the runway alignment during rollout.
