MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,772 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,772 m of the 3,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 343 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 28 at Zürich Airport (LSZH). The takeoff distance was 1,142 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 169 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 1°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot at 0 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, and the headwind was zero. The enroute climb began overhead Rumlang, a town in the Kanton Zurich region of Switzerland. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 2,367 feet above sea level to 30,995 feet, an increase of 28,627 feet, in 11 minutes and covered a distance of 80 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Hittisau in the Vorarlberg region of Austria. This phase lasted for 20 minutes and covered a distance of 172 nautical miles. The enroute descent began overhead Kirchdorf an der Krems in the Oberoesterreich region of Austria. The aircraft descended from 30,999 feet to 1,898 feet, a decrease of 29,102 feet, in 29 minutes and covered a distance of 154 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 11 at Vienna International Airport (LOWW) was made from the west, heading 115.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,301 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on runway 11, which had a length of 3,494 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 146 knots. The touchdown distance was 345 meters, which was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly faster than desired, and the touchdown rate of -297 feet per minute was fair.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 139 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,696 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 413 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 69 minutes. The aircraft used 8,971 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at Vienna International Airport (LOWW) on runway 11, achieving a high score of 99.0%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 115.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,301 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach speed and threshold height were well within the acceptable limits, with a threshold speed of 146 knots and a good threshold height.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's touchdown distance was 345 meters, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking force upon touchdown. The touchdown rate of -297 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not excessively steep.
One notable aspect of the landing was the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was 3.5 meters off-centerline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path or a minor error in the pilots' alignment with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 139°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, allowing the aircraft to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance of 1,696 meters was 49% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and bring it to a safe stop. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a safe distance from the runway threshold.
