MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,023 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,023 m of the 3,209 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 685 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A330-900, then departed from runway 16L at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,928 meters, which was 53% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 199 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of Des Moines, Washington. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 119 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,253 feet above sea level to 30,208 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,955 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 25 miles west of Ilwaco, Washington. This phase lasted for 744 minutes and covered a distance of 4,924 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 7 miles southwest of Blue Lagoon Seaplane Base on Nanuya Lailai Island in Fiji. The descent took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 57 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 29,232 feet above sea level to 1,981 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,251 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 8 miles south of Nadi, Fiji. This phase lasted for only 3 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 02 at Nadi International Airport, flying from the southwest and heading 37.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,342 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 02 was characterized by a threshold speed that was well above the target speed at 167 knots. The touchdown point was 280 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 163 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -368 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.8 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 180 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,954 meters, which was 61% of the runway length. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 5,120 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 795 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 65,662 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A330-900 aircraft successfully landed at Nadi International Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 37.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,342 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 02, which has a length of 3,209 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was significantly above the target speed of 167 knots, indicating that the aircraft was descending at a faster rate than intended. The touchdown point was located 280 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 163 knots was faster than the desired speed. The touchdown rate was firm, with a rate of -368 feet per minute (fpm), which is consistent with a firm touchdown.
However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft was not perfectly aligned with the runway during touchdown. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 180°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the tailwind component was 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,954 meters, which is 61% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.8 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft was not perfectly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some deviations from the ideal landing parameters that need to be addressed to improve the aircraft's performance.
