Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,891 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,891 m of the 3,273 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 681 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Boeing 777-300 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Hong Kong International Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. Departure roll occurred on runway 07C, with a takeoff distance of 916 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of the airport and ascending from an altitude of 1,030 feet above sea level to 36,033 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,003 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 87 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase began 77 miles southeast of Zhuhai Jinwan Airport, lasting 2 minutes and covering 16 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another enroute climb phase, starting 92 miles south of Zhuhai Jinwan Airport and ascending from 36,043 feet above sea level to 38,037 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,994 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 16 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase that followed lasted for 152 minutes, covering a distance of 1,150 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 42 miles northeast of Tioman Airport and descending from 37,921 feet above sea level to 1,325 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,596 feet in 28 minutes, covering a distance of 129 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 02L at Singapore Changi Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 23.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,299 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing occurred on runway 02L, which had a length of 3,273 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 139 knots.
The touchdown point was 261 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 129 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -214 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 350 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,806 meters, which accounted for 55% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,407 nautical miles, taking a total of 209 minutes, and the aircraft used 23,554 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at Singapore Changi Airport's runway 02L, achieving a score of 92.0%. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 23.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,299 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold speed of 139 knots, which is within the acceptable range for a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 261 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center. However, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -214 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have maintained a more stable descent rate.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a gentle wind of 3 knots from 350°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach.
The total landing distance of 1,806 meters was 55% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for a safe stop. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a good touchdown speed and a controlled descent. However, the slight misalignment of the touchdown point and the fair touchdown rate suggest areas for improvement in the pilot's technique.
