Improve the pattern base leg
The one change that would have gained the most on this flight, and the guide passage for it.
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: six checks at the point nearest 500 ft above the runway after the base turn. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 391 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Cessna Skyhawk departed from runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde. The take-off roll measured 390 m, which is 16 % of the available runway, and the aircraft became airborne at a liftoff speed of 61 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 12 °C, wind 1 kt from 169 °, giving a cross-wind component of 1 kt and no head-wind.
During the left-hand pattern entry the aircraft turned onto runway 23 and covered less than 1 nm in 18 seconds. The subsequent left-hand crosswind leg also remained under 1 nm, taking 23 seconds. On the downwind turn the aircraft described a 110.7 ° angle to the runway over a distance of 1 nm, then proceeded on the downwind leg for 2 nm in 68 seconds. The base-leg turn was executed at a 34.3 ° angle to the runway over 1 nm, followed by a base-leg segment of less than 1 nm completed in 34 seconds. The final turn covered less than 1 nm in 12 seconds, after which the aircraft established the final approach to runway 23 from the north-east, heading 229.0 ° at 1 nm and 387 ft AGL.
The aircraft landed on runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde, whose length is 2 ,493 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 60 kt, and touchdown occurred 394 m down the runway at a speed of 42 kt. The vertical speed at touchdown was minus 78 fpm, and runway alignment was perfect. Local weather at landing was a temperature of 20 °C, wind 3 kt from 226 °, providing a head-wind component of 3 kt and no cross-wind.
The total landing distance was 629 m, representing 25 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment remained perfect throughout the deceleration phase.
In total the flight covered 6 nm, taking 5, and consumed 2 kg of fuel.
The Cessna Skyhawk established a final approach to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde from the north-east, tracking a heading of 229.0° at 1 nm and 387 ft agl. Local conditions were 20 °C with a wind from 226° at 3 kt, providing a 3 kt head-wind component and zero cross-wind.
At threshold the aircraft presented a good height and a good threshold speed of 60 kt, indicating an appropriate flare set-up for the landing.
Touchdown occurred 394 m down the runway at a speed of 42 kt, with an excellent vertical rate of minus 78 fpm and perfect runway-centerline alignment.
The rollout covered a total distance of 629 m, representing 25 % of the 2 493 m runway, and the aircraft maintained perfect alignment throughout the rollout.
With a final score of 95.3 %, the landing was strong; focus on maintaining the aim-point consistency to keep touchdown distance tightly centred around the optimal zone and verify that flare timing continues to produce the observed low vertical rate.
