Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,398 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,398 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 273 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight was conducted with an Edgley Optica aircraft departing from Bora Bora Airport (NTTB), located in the island group of the Societies in French Polynesia. The actual takeoff roll began on runway 29, covering 91 meters, which was only 6% of the runway's total length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 56 knots, overcoming a negligible headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft gained altitude, the local weather conditions played a minimal role, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots blowing from 270 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots, which did not significantly affect the aircraft's overall performance.
The enroute climb segment began approximately above Bora Bora Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 205 feet (approximately 62 meters) to 2,113 feet (643 meters) in only 3 minutes, achieving a gain of 1,908 feet (582 meters) and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles (5.6 kilometers). The subsequent enroute level cruise segment took place approximately 2 nautical miles (3.7 kilometers) north of a reference point called BR02 and lasted for 5 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles (14.8 kilometers).
The enroute descent began approximately 7 nautical miles (13 kilometers) southeast of reference point BR02, with the aircraft descending from 2,073 feet (630 meters) to 546 feet (166 meters) over a distance of 3 nautical miles (5.6 kilometers) in 2 minutes, resulting in a decrease of 1,527 feet (465 meters).
Further enroute climb and descent segments were carried out, with the aircraft climbing to 1,310 feet (399 meters) and then descending to 625 feet (191 meters) over various locations, including 2 nautical miles north west of Raiatea Airport (NTTR). The final level cruise segment occurred approximately 2 nautical miles north west of Raiatea Airport and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles (3.7 kilometers).
As the aircraft approached Raiatea Airport, it began its final approach to runway 25 from the east, maintaining a heading of 264.0 degrees at an altitude of 0 nautical miles (0 meters) and 86 feet (26 meters) above ground level (agl).
The aircraft landed safely on runway 25, which was approximately 1,398 meters long. The threshold speed, speed at touch down, and touchdown rate were all within optimal ranges. However, the aircraft did land slightly misaligned from the center line of the runway by 3.1 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft covered 369 meters, which represented 26% of the runway's total length. The roll-out alignment of the aircraft was described as very good. Following the landing, the aircraft took less than 1 minute to taxi to the parking area, covering less than 1 nautical mile (1.9 kilometers).
In summary, this flight, conducted with an Edgley Optica aircraft in the French Polynesian island group, achieved a total distance of 24 nautical miles (44.4 kilometers), consumed 10 kilograms of fuel, and lasted approximately 19 minutes. The overall performance of the aircraft was deemed satisfactory, with several parameters, including speed, altitude, and touchdown distance, falling within optimal ranges.
The Edgley Optica executed a nearly flawless landing at NTTR Raiatea Airport, with a score of 99.8%. As the aircraft approached runway 25 from the east, it maintained a heading of 264.0° at an altitude of 86 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 0 nautical miles from the runway threshold. The final approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway and maintained a safe distance above the ground.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft performed well, with a threshold speed of 52 knots being achieved. The touchdown distance of 271 meters was also satisfactory, and the touchdown speed reached 36 knots, which was within acceptable limits. Furthermore, the touchdown rate was smooth at -114 feet per minute (fpm), demonstrating that the pilot had a good control over the aircraft's descent. However, it was noted that the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
Despite the minor misalignment, the overall performance of the landing was excellent. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 270°, were favorable for the landing. Additionally, there was no crosswind or headwind, further contributing to the success of the landing. The total landing distance of 369 meters, which accounted for only 26% of the runway length, was impressive, and the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Edgley Optica's landing at NTTR Raiatea Airport showcased a high level of proficiency and skill on the part of the pilot, despite a minor deviation from the optimal touchdown position. The aircraft's performance was exemplary, with a smooth touchdown and a satisfactory rollout, making this landing a good representation of the aircraft's capabilities.
