Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,261 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,261 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 225 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Kodiak 100 taxied to runway 27 at EGFE Haverfordwest Airport and commenced the departure roll, using 411 m of runway - 50 % of the available length - before lifting off at 88 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a 2 kt wind from 270°, presenting a 2 kt head-wind component and no cross-wind.
During the right-hand pattern entry the aircraft covered less than 1 nm in 25 seconds, establishing the initial approach geometry.
The subsequent right-hand pattern crosswind leg extended 1 nm and was completed in 31 seconds, maintaining alignment with runway 27.
In the downwind turn the aircraft described a 2 nm arc, reaching an angle of 56.7° to the runway centreline.
The downwind leg itself spanned 2 nm and was flown for 70 seconds before the base turn was initiated.
The base-leg turn also measured 2 nm, with the aircraft achieving an angle of 52.4° to the runway axis.
The base leg was less than 1 nm long and was traversed in 21 seconds, positioning the aircraft for the final turn.
The final turn covered another 2 nm segment and required 72 seconds to line up with runway 21 for landing.
Landing was executed on runway 21, whose length is 1,261 m; the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 64 kt. Touchdown occurred 223 m down the runway at 57 kt with a smooth vertical rate of minus 104 fpm, and runway-touchdown alignment was very good. Weather remained 15 °C with a 2 kt wind from 270°, now providing a 1 kt head-wind and a 2 kt cross-wind component.
The rollout distance measured 475 m, representing 38 % of the runway, and the aircraft maintained perfect alignment throughout the deceleration phase.
Overall, the flight covered 9 nm, lasted 5 minutes, and consumed 11 kg of fuel.
The aircraft approached runway 21 at EGFE Haverfordwest Airport in calm conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C, a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 2 kt and a head-wind component of 1 kt, and the threshold height was reported as good.
During the threshold and flare phase the threshold speed was slightly below target at 64 kt, and the flare was executed with the aircraft maintaining very good runway alignment.
Touchdown occurred 223 m down the runway at a speed of 57 kt, with a smooth vertical rate of minus 104 fpm and runway touchdown alignment described as very good.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 475 m, representing 38 % of the 1 261 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect.
Fine-tuning the approach speed to meet the target value would eliminate the slight underspeed observed, while the current flare and alignment techniques should be maintained to preserve the high overall performance.
