Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,001 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 447 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 34 at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where the Cessna CJ4 Citation took off with a takeoff distance of 107 meters, which accounted for just 3% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 103 knots, and the aircraft was able to lift off the ground quickly.
As the aircraft entered the local airspace, it encountered a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 34 knots at 329 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 32 knots, which the pilot had to take into account during the flight. The aircraft then entered a left-hand pattern from runway 34, completing the entry in less than 1 nautical mile in just 9 seconds.
The left-hand pattern crosswind was also navigated successfully, with the aircraft completing the turn in less than 1 nautical mile in 12 seconds. The pilot then initiated a pattern downwind turn, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles at an angle of 45 degrees to the runway. The aircraft was then aligned for a final approach to runway 34 from the south, with a heading of 342.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 463 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 34 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 79 knots and a distance of 447 meters. The touchdown rate was excellent at -100 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 545 meters, which accounted for just 14% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.8 meters from the centreline.
The flight was completed with a total distance of 3 nautical miles, which was covered in just 3 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -96 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was executed smoothly, with the pilot successfully navigating the aircraft through the challenging weather conditions and completing the landing safely.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport, achieving a score of 94.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 342.0° at 1 nautical mile and 463 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions.
The temperature at the time of landing was 9°C, with a wind speed of 34 knots coming from 329°. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 32 knots. Despite these challenging conditions, the pilot managed to maintain a stable approach and touchdown. The threshold speed was well above the target at 109 knots, indicating a high level of control and precision.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft performed well, with a touchdown speed of 79 knots and a touchdown rate of -100 feet per minute (fpm). This is an excellent rate, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown distance was also good, at 447 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway rollout alignment, with the aircraft being 8.8 meters off the centerline. This is a minor issue, but it could be improved upon in future landings. The total landing distance was 545 meters, which is only 14% of the runway length. This is a good indication of the pilot's ability to control the aircraft and make the most efficient use of the runway.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and precision. The aircraft performed well, and the pilot was able to navigate the challenging weather conditions with ease.
