Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,277 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,277 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 205 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna C172, then departed from runway 30 at the Coburg-Brandensteinsebene Airfield (EDQC). The takeoff distance was 307 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 56 knots, and the aircraft lifted off the ground with a gentle speed.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 19 knots at 254 degrees. The crosswind component was 13 knots, while the headwind component was also 13 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead the Coburg-Brandensteinsebene Airfield. The climb took 1 minute to reach an altitude of 2,909 feet above sea level, an increase of 856 feet from the initial altitude of 2,053 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead the Coburg-Steinrücken Airfield (EDQY). This phase lasted for 43 minutes and covered a distance of 109 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 25 at the Augsburg Airport (EDMA), which was located to the east. The aircraft was heading at 252.0 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway and at an altitude of 753 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 25 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 204 meters, which was 22% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 47 knots, and the touchdown rate was -198 feet per minute, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 250 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 113 nautical miles, and the total flight time was 54 minutes. The aircraft used 43 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was successful, with a smooth and controlled takeoff, climb, cruise, and landing.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25 at EDMA Augsburg Airport, achieving a high score of 96.7%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 252.0° at 1 nautical mile and 753 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision throughout the approach, ultimately touching down on the runway with a distance of 204 meters.
The touchdown speed of 47 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -198 feet per minute (fpm) was also good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of landing without excessive deceleration. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the centerline of the runway at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from 250°. The crosswind component was negligible, with a headwind of 12 knots contributing to a smooth and stable approach. The total landing distance of 280 meters was only 22% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop quickly and efficiently after touchdown.
The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating good control, precision, and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
