Hold the glidepath
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: glideslope 4.3° against the runway's 3° and centreline 1.2° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,817 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 435 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 0.19 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport and commenced the departure roll. Takeoff was achieved after an 808 m ground run, representing 43 % of the available runway, with liftoff attained at 136 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
Climb began directly overhead EGPE Inverness Airport, where the aeroplane rose from 1,004 ft asl to 4,364 ft asl, an altitude gain of 3,361 ft in 3 minutes while covering 12 nm.
Level cruise was established 1 nm north of Kirkhill and was maintained for 2 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 8 nm.
Descent commenced 2 nm south-west of Inverness, with the flight descending from 4,130 ft asl to 1,895 ft asl, a loss of 2,235 ft in 2 minutes and a distance of 6 nm.
The final approach to runway 05 at EGPE Inverness Airport involved a descent from 1,942 ft agl to 54 ft agl over 101 seconds, and the aircraft met the stabilisation gate criteria.
Landing on runway 05, whose length is 1,817 m, was executed with a threshold speed of 112 kt. Touchdown occurred 435 m down the runway at 95 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 163 fpm and very good alignment. Local weather remained 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt tail-wind component.
Rollout was completed with a total landing distance of 868 m, equivalent to 48 % of the runway, and the runway rollout alignment was recorded as perfect.
In total the flight covered 30 nm, required 8 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 96 kg of fuel.
The Hawker H25B completed its final approach to runway 05 at EGPE Inverness Airport, descending from 1,942 ft agl to 54 ft agl in 101 seconds. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as unstable, being off the glideslope and off the centreline, while the ambient conditions were 15 °C with a 2 kt wind from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt tail-wind component.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and achieved a good threshold speed of 112 kt, setting up a stable configuration for touchdown.
Touchdown occurred 435 m down the runway at a good speed of 95 kt and a good vertical rate of minus 163 fpm, with runway touchdown alignment described as very good. The total landing distance was 868 m, representing 48 % of the 1,817 m runway length.
Rollout was completed with perfect runway rollout alignment, allowing the aircraft to decelerate safely along the remaining runway.
To convert the high overall score of 94.5 % into an even more consistent performance, focus on achieving a stabilized approach by the 1,000 ft gate, ensuring both glideslope and centreline are captured early. Early correction of any lateral or vertical deviation will translate the stable approach into the already excellent touchdown and rollout results.
