Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,511 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 528 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 06 at SECU Mariscal Lamar Airport. The aircraft, an EasyJet FWB, accelerated down the runway, covering 1,568 meters, which was 83% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 146 knots, and the aircraft lifted off the ground smoothly.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 15°C temperature and a gentle wind of 3 knots at 359 degrees. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, and the headwind was also 2 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northeast of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from 9,260 feet above sea level to 26,960 feet, an increase of 17,700 feet in just 9 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 9 minutes and covered 66 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute climb, which started 5 miles southwest of Puerto Bolivar. The aircraft climbed from 26,956 feet to 37,474 feet, an increase of 10,518 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 59 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 6 minutes and covered 48 nautical miles. This was followed by an enroute descent, which started 8 miles north of Piura. The aircraft descended from 37,443 feet to 10,286 feet, a decrease of 27,156 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 79 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 1 nautical mile. This was followed by another enroute descent, which started 12 miles northwest of Jayanca. The aircraft descended from 9,539 feet to 604 feet, a decrease of 8,935 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01 at SPHI Jose A Quinones Gonzales International Airport was made from the south, heading 8.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 485 feet above ground level. The landing was smooth, with the touchdown point being 88 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 144 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -378 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 19°C temperature and a gentle wind of 8 knots at 190 degrees. The crosswind was minimal at 0 knots, and the tailwind was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 1,212 meters, which was 48% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 302 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 63 minutes. The aircraft used 2,142 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as FWB EasyJet, successfully landed at SPHI Jose A Quinones Gonzales International Airport on runway 01. The final approach was initiated from the south, with a heading of 8.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 485 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its landing, achieving a score of 92.0%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 88 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. However, the touchdown speed of 144 knots was well within the target range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -378 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a slight increase in deceleration, but still within acceptable limits.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. This is a critical aspect of safe landing, as it helps to prevent the aircraft from veering off the runway or experiencing uneven braking.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a gentle wind of 8 knots from a direction of 190°. The crosswind component was negligible, while the tailwind component was 8 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly firm touchdown rate.
The total landing distance of 1,212 meters was 48% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This suggests that the pilot was able to maintain a high level of control and precision throughout the landing, resulting in a smooth and efficient rollout. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline throughout the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
