MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,334 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 401 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft, which departed from the VOGA Manohar Intl-Mopa airport in Goa, India. The takeoff roll began on runway 28, and the aircraft lifted off at a speed of 117 knots, covering a distance of 491 meters, which accounted for 14% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 25°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 349°, resulting in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 1 knot.
Following a brief climb from 1,622 feet above sea level to 8,088 feet, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from 8,088 feet to 21,909 feet, covering a distance of 20 nautical miles in 6 minutes. The level cruise phase that followed lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 105 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent phase, which started 11 miles northeast of Byndoor, a town in the state of Karnataka, India. The descent from 21,374 feet to 2,565 feet took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 57 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at the VOML Mangalore International Airport was made from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 239.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 65 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 89 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -108 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 1,480 meters, which accounted for 63% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 198 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 54 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 589 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed at VOML Mangalore International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 239.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on runway 24, which has a length of 2,334 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 101 knots. The touchdown point was 65 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 89 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -108 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments during the next landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a wind speed of 0 knots at 88°. There was no crosswind or headwind, which contributed to a stable and controlled landing.
The total landing distance of 1,480 meters was 63% of the runway length, which is a relatively efficient use of the available runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the pilot's skills were demonstrated through the high score achieved.
