Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,594 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 178 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight from Kuopio Airport to Oslo Airport began with an Airbus A320 taking off from runway 15. Taxiing from the parking area to the runway took approximately 7 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. After departure, the aircraft lifted off from the runway at a liftoff speed of 127 knots and a takeoff distance of 638 meters, which represents 23% of the runway.
As the plane ascended, it began its enroute climb, which started over the EFKU Kuopio Airport in Finland and continued up to an altitude of 37,801 feet above sea level. The climb lasted for 19 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 106 nautical miles and rose by 36,427 feet from the initial altitude of 1,374 feet. The weather conditions were mostly favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle headwind.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, first lasting 47 minutes over the south-west of the EFHI Haapamäki Airfield and covering a considerable distance of 293 nautical miles. The aircraft then underwent a descent, starting near the Nyhammar Airfield in Sweden. Over the following 12 minutes, the aircraft dropped by 20,909 feet to a new altitude of 17,148 feet, while covering a distance of 77 nautical miles.
After a brief cruise phase over the Magnor area in Norway, the descent continued. From an altitude of 17,148 feet to 9,990 feet, the aircraft decreased its altitude by 7,158 feet in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles. Next, there was a short cruise phase lasting 3 minutes near Kirkenær in Norway.
Finally, the aircraft descended to its final approach altitude, starting its descent near Valer in Norway. It dropped its altitude by 8,022 feet in 10 minutes, covering 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then approached runway 19R at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, from the north. At this point, the local weather was characterized by a temperature of 18°C and a moderate headwind.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 125 knots, which was slightly faster than recommended. However, the touchdown rate was firm at -377 feet per minute. The touchdown point was 77 meters beyond the threshold, and the landing distance accounted for 34% of the runway. After the landing, the aircraft successfully rolled out along the runway, demonstrating good alignment and control. The total landing distance was 1,211 meters.
The final segment of the flight involved taxiing from the runway to the parking area, which took approximately 6 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. As for the total flight distance, it was 552 nautical miles, and the flight used a total of 3,983 kilograms of fuel.
An Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 19R at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen with a score of 96.8%. The aircraft initiated its final approach from the north, heading towards the runway at an altitude of 1,276 feet and 4 nautical miles away. The aircraft's alignment with the runway was maintained as it descended towards the touchdown point.
During the landing, the pilots demonstrated good threshold height, ensuring a smooth touchdown. The threshold speed of 125 knots was also satisfactory, however, the touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly faster than optimal, indicating a minor adjustment in the landing configuration was necessary. The touchdown rate of -377 feet per minute was firm, indicating a controlled descent.
A slight misalignment of 3.9 meters from the centerline was observed during the runway touchdown, which may have been a minor deviation from the ideal alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of landing consisted of a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, wind at 14 knots from 140 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,211 meters accounted for 34% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short landing distance considering the aircraft's weight and speed. The pilots demonstrated high levels of skill in rolling out the aircraft, maintaining an excellent alignment along the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with the pilots displaying good control and precision in executing the landing maneuver. The minor deviations in touchdown speed and alignment were largely compensated by the excellent rollout alignment, resulting in a satisfactory landing score of 96.8%.
