MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,676 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,516 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at PGUM Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, a process that took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 06L, with a takeoff distance of 1,943 feet, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 97 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions, with a temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 10 knots at 109 degrees. The crosswind was 7 knots, and the headwind was also 7 knots. After departing from PGUM, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,318 feet above sea level to 15,584 feet, an increase of 14,266 feet, in just 10 minutes and covering a distance of 29 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 20 miles east of PGUA Andersen Air Force Base and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 69 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 17 miles southwest of San Jose Village. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 15,625 feet to 1,727 feet, a decrease of 13,897 feet, in 10 minutes and covering a distance of 25 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07 at PGSN Saipan International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 75.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,470 feet above ground level and a distance of 3 nautical miles from the runway. The landing on runway 07 was made with a runway length of 8,676 feet. However, the threshold height was excessively over target, and the threshold speed was too high at 89 knots.
The touchdown point was 942 feet beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 59 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -86 feet per minute was excellent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 17 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and winds of 10 knots at 60 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 10 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,760 feet, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 132 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 45 minutes. The aircraft used 315 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at PGSN Saipan International Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 75.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,470 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 07, which has a length of 8,676 feet.
However, there were some issues with the landing. The threshold height at 103 feet agl was excessively over the target, indicating that the aircraft descended too quickly or too late. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 89 knots, which may have contributed to the over-zealous descent. The touchdown point was 942 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot.
Despite these issues, the touchdown speed of 59 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -86 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 17 feet from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 88°F and a wind of 10 knots at 60°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind was 10 knots, which may have helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance was 2,760 feet, which is 32% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and stop quickly. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the Vision Jet aircraft landed safely, there are areas for improvement in terms of threshold height and speed management. With some adjustments to the approach and landing technique, the pilot may be able to achieve a more precise and controlled landing.
