Keep the taxi smooth
Turn speed is limited by lateral load on the tyres and the people in the back, and lateral acceleration goes with the square of speed. On an illustrative 25 m turn radius, 10 kt produces about 0.11 g of side load, while 20 kt produces about 0.43 g. Doubling the speed quadruples the load. That square law is the entire content of the "10 knots in turns" rule, and it tells you why a slightly-too-fast turn feels fine and a moderately-too-fast one throws the cabin crew across the galley.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,361 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 426 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 33 at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,261 meters, which was 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 138 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 180 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was 2 knots. After departing from the airport, the enroute climb started overhead Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,060 feet above sea level to 14,355 feet above sea level, an increase of 13,295 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 46 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then started overhead Sungai Besar, lasting 7 minutes and covering 44 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 14,357 feet above sea level to 2,237 feet above sea level, a decrease of 12,121 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 57 nautical miles. The descent started 5 miles south east of Pantai Remis.
After the descent, the aircraft entered another enroute level cruise, this time starting 10 miles south west of Penang International Airport, lasting 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 04 at Penang International Airport was made from the south west, heading 42.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,270 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 04 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 426 meters, which was 31% of the runway. The touchdown speed was 110 knots, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -93 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions during landing were 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots at 40 degrees, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,027 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 162 nautical miles, taking 43 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,260 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question, an RJ85, successfully landed at WMKP Penang International Airport, achieving a remarkable score of 99.8%. The final approach to runway 04 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 42.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,270 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated excellent control and precision, touching down on the runway with a speed of 121 knots, which was well within the threshold speed requirements. The touchdown distance of 426 meters was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. Furthermore, the touchdown speed of 110 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -93 feet per minute was exceptional, showcasing the pilot's skill in managing the aircraft's descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a gentle headwind of 5 knots at 40°. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 knots, which further contributed to the smooth landing. The total landing distance of 1,027 meters, which accounted for only 31% of the runway length, was impressive, indicating a well-executed landing.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the critical phase of landing. Overall, the landing was a testament to the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities, with a near-perfect score of 99.8%.
