Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,758 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,758 m of the 3,171 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 556 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A flight originating from Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH) departed runway 07C, utilizing 52% of the available runway length to achieve a takeoff distance of 1,793 meters. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 178 knots, with a local temperature of 31°C and a wind of 20 knots at 89 degrees. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 19 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it traversed a distance of 212 nautical miles in 31 minutes, increasing its altitude by 33,134 feet. The enroute level cruise phase commenced 83 miles northeast of Pratas Island, lasting 501 minutes and covering 4,481 nautical miles. The flight then underwent a series of climbs and level cruises, with notable increases in altitude and decreases in time. Notably, a climb from 31,838 feet to 35,888 feet in 3 minutes covered 34 nautical miles. The final descent phase began 5 miles west of Hay Island Airstrip, with the aircraft descending from 39,646 feet to 10,251 feet in 10 minutes, covering 78 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered the final approach phase, aligning with runway 23 at Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ) from the northeast. The landing was executed with a threshold speed slightly above target at 143 knots, and the touchdown point was 192 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 140 knots, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -146 feet per minute. The total landing distance was 1,730 meters, accounting for 54% of the available runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles in 9 minutes. The total flight distance was 7,656 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 899 minutes and a fuel consumption of 100,395 kilograms.
The aircraft touched down on runway 23 at CYYZ Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, with a threshold speed slightly above the target at 143 kt. The approach quality was good, with a threshold height that was well-managed. However, the touchdown speed of 140 kt was faster than desired, resulting in a smooth but potentially excessive touchdown rate of -146 fpm.
The aircraft's touchdown point was 192 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-shoot. The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 8.5 m from the centreline, which was maintained during the rollout phase. The crosswind component of 5 kt and headwind of 17 kt were well-handled by the crew, with the aircraft aligning with the runway centreline during the rollout. The total landing distance of 1,730 m was 54% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance.
The overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, with a score of 93.5%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the touchdown speed and the runway touchdown position alignment. The crew's handling of the crosswind and headwind was commendable, and the smooth touchdown rate was a positive aspect of the landing.
