Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 7,228 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 7,228 ft of the 12,046 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,748 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 36L at the Orlando International Airport (KMCO). The takeoff distance was 3,684 feet, which accounted for 31% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 159 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 70°F and a wind speed of 15 knots from a direction of 270°. The crosswind component was also 15 knots, while the headwind component was zero. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile south east of the Lake Conway South Seaplane Base, where the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 880 feet above sea level to 1,970 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,090 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its enroute descent approximately 1 mile south of Pine Castle, Florida. The descent from 1,952 feet above sea level to 557 feet above sea level resulted in a decrease of 1,395 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 36R at KMCO Orlando International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 351.0° at an altitude of 462 feet above ground level and a distance of 2 nautical miles from the runway. The landing on runway 36R was successful, with a threshold speed of 139 knots and a touchdown speed of 131 knots, both of which were considered good. The touchdown point was 1,379 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -111 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centerline, but the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions during landing were a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 270°, with a crosswind component of 14 knots and a headwind component of zero. The total landing distance was 6,959 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 12 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 8 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 965 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at KMCO Orlando International Airport, with a final approach score of 89.3%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the south, heading 351.0° at 2 nautical miles and 462 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 139 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 1,379 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 131 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth, at -111 feet per minute (fpm). However, there was a slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position, being 13 feet off the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 14 knots from 270°. This resulted in a 14-knot crosswind and a 0-knot headwind.
The total landing distance was 6,959 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway length. The runway length at KMCO Orlando International Airport is 12,046 feet. Despite the slight misalignment, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration of the aircraft after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and adherence to standard procedures.
