MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,647 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,647 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 619 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This Boeing 737-900 took off from runway 12 at FVFA Victoria Falls International Airport in Zimbabwe. Taxiing from the parking to the runway for departure took a leisurely 9 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Once airborne, the aircraft lifted off at a speed of 150 knots, having covered 36% of the 1,451-meter runway. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff included a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with a 5-knot headwind at 70 degrees, resulting in a 3-knot crosswind and a 4-knot headwind.
The flight then embarked on an enroute climb from 4,472 feet above sea level (asl) to 37,240 feet asl, an increase of 32,768 feet over a distance of 200 nautical miles, within 28 minutes.
During its ascent, the aircraft encountered different weather conditions, but by the time it leveled off to begin its cruise, it was flying at 37,047 feet asl. This level cruise phase commenced 9 miles north east of FLKF Kafue Airport, extending over a distance of 859 nautical miles within 111 minutes.
As the flight nears its destination, it initiated a descent, this time dropping from 37,047 feet asl to 1,347 feet asl within a mere 18 minutes, covering a distance of 52 nautical miles. After descending through the atmosphere, the aircraft began its final approach to runaway 2 at FMCH Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport, a 2,914-meter runway located in Comoros.
The approach began at 1,264 feet above ground level (agl), moving at a heading of 10 degrees. The plane touched down slightly beyond the designated touchdown zone, at a distance of 210 meters, at a speed of 133 knots, which was a tad above the target. Despite a slightly faster touchdown speed, the aircraft exhibited a fair touchdown rate of -269 feet per minute (fpm). However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft successfully landed, covering 54% of the runway distance. The total landing distance was 1,573 meters, with a rollout alignment that was perfectly executed. Following a safe touchdown, the plane took only 2 minutes to taxi to the parking area, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
This flight consumed a total distance of 1,121 nautical miles, taking 170 minutes to complete and used 7,361 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft executed a successful landing at FMCH Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport, with a score of 95.4%. As the aircraft approached the runway from the south, it maintained a heading of 10.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,264 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's final approach onto runway 02 was relatively smooth, with a slightly above target threshold speed of 140 knots. The touchdown point was located 210 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the aircraft's speed at touchdown was a little fast at 133 knots. Despite the fast touchdown speed, the aircraft's touchdown rate was considered fair, measuring -269 feet per minute (fpm).
The landing performance was further complicated by a misaligned runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 3.1 meters off the centerline. However, the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C, a light wind of 2 kt at 141°, and negligible crosswind or tailwind components.
In terms of landing distance, the Boeing 737-900 took 1,573 meters to come to a complete stop, which is equivalent to 54% of the runway's total length. This distance may be considered acceptable, given the relatively fast touchdown speed and the minor runway alignment issues.
One significant aspect of the landing was the perfect runway rollout alignment, which suggests that the pilot was able to effectively manage the aircraft's momentum and directional control following touchdown. Overall, the Boeing 737-900's landing at FMCH Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport was successful, with the pilot successfully executing the landing despite some minor challenges.
