Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,876 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,876 m of the 2,883 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 777 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LPPR Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport, taking 11 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 17, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,702 meters, which was 56% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots at 205 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it reached an altitude of 34,569 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,336 feet from the initial altitude of 1,233 feet. This climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 139 nautical miles. The enroute climb started overhead LPPR Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, Portugal.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 56 minutes and covered a distance of 443 nautical miles. This cruise phase started 1 mile west of Aspariegos in Castilla y Leon, Spain. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 1 mile south west of Chancay in Centre-Val de Loire, France. The descent from 33,994 feet to 10,976 feet took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 68 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 36 nautical miles. This cruise phase started 1 mile south of Roinville in Centre-Val de Loire, France. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Reau in Ile-de-France, France. The descent from 10,842 feet to 1,581 feet took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 254.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,288 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 25, which had a length of 2,883 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 140 knots.
The touchdown point was 362 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 128 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -312 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 212 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,796 meters, which was 62% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 5 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 706 nautical miles, taking 118 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,912 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 25 at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport, achieving a score of 90.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 254.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,288 feet above ground level (agl).
The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed on the runway with a touchdown speed of 128 knots, which was within the target range. The touchdown rate was firm at -312 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a gentle wind of 8 knots from 212°. The crosswind component was minimal at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The touchdown point was 362 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the ideal location. However, the total landing distance of 1,796 meters was only 62% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the pilot's skills were evident throughout the approach and landing phases. The score of 90.0% reflects the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot.
