Departure
Hold the nose down until the speed reaches 58 kt, then rotate.
What happened: You started the rotation at 48 kt, 10 kt before the 58 kt rotation speed.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 58 kt at rotation

Arrival
Add power on short final to hold 66 kt at the threshold rather than letting speed decay.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 58 kt against a target of 66 kt, below reference speed.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator, hold 66 kt down to the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 219 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Cessna Skyhawk taxied to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde and commenced the departure roll. The aircraft accelerated over a take-off distance of 398 m, representing 16 % of the available runway, and lifted off at 61 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
After departure, the pilot entered a left-hand pattern on runway 23, covering less than 1 nm in 25 seconds to establish the initial approach segment.
The aircraft then proceeded through the left-hand crosswind leg, again covering less than 1 nm, this time in 15 seconds, maintaining alignment for the subsequent downwind turn.
A left-hand downwind turn was executed, traversing a distance of 1 nm while turning to an angle of 77.9° relative to the runway heading.
The downwind leg extended for 2 nm and was completed in 69 seconds, providing the aircraft with the required spacing before the base turn.
Subsequently, the base leg turn covered 1 nm and brought the aircraft to an angle of 34.7° to the runway, positioning it for final approach.
Landing was performed on runway 23, whose length is 2,490 m. The threshold height was satisfactory and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 58 kt. Touchdown occurred 219 m down the runway at a speed of 43 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 55 fpm and perfect alignment to the runway centreline. Weather at the time of landing was 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, a cross-wind of 1 kt and a head-wind of 2 kt.
The aircraft rolled out smoothly after touchdown, maintaining the established alignment until it exited the runway.
In total, the flight covered 7 nm, required 5 minutes of flight time, and consumed 2 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 36 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield was conducted with a descent from 454 ft agl to 30 ft agl in 45 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates. Local weather was 20 °C with wind 2 kt from 083°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and no head-wind.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was slightly below target at 72 kt.
Touchdown occurred 281 m down the runway at a speed of 61 kt, with a vertical rate of minus 57 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.3 m from the centreline.
The rollout covered a total distance of 710 m, representing 55 % of the 1 293 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
Fine-tune the approach speed to meet the target value and make small adjustments to maintain centreline alignment within a tighter tolerance; the overall performance was strong with a score of 87.2 %.
