MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,186 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 599 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at London Stansted Airport, taking approximately 5 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 22, with the takeoff distance covering 49% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 159 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 7°C and a wind speed of 10 knots at 140 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile south of Birchanger, Essex, England, and reached an altitude of 33,303 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,997 feet from its initial altitude of 1,306 feet. This climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 95 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 33 miles south of Seaford, East Sussex, England, and lasted for 14 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 415 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile west of Souilhe, Occitanie, France, and took 9 minutes to descend from an altitude of 33,130 feet to 1,522 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,608 feet. This descent covered a distance of 135 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 25 at Reus Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 249.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing took place on runway 25, which had a length of 2,186 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots. The touchdown point was 179 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -427 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 20.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 138 degrees, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,229 meters, which was 56% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 19.9 meters from the centerline. The total flight distance was 651 nautical miles, and the flight took 42 minutes to complete, using a total of 4,488 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LERS Reus Airport, but the landing was not without its challenges. The final approach to runway 25 was initiated from the east, heading 249.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 179 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly above the target speed, which could have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -427 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was also significantly misaligned by 20.8 meters from the centerline, which could have made the landing more difficult to control. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 14°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 138°.
The threshold height at 61 feet agl was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots. These deviations from the target values could have added to the complexity of the landing. The total landing distance of 1,229 meters was 56% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 19.9 meters from the centerline, which could have made the post-landing phase more challenging.
Overall, while the Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LERS Reus Airport, the landing was not without its issues. The deviations from the target values and the misaligned touchdown and rollout positions highlight the need for the pilots to exercise caution and precision during the landing phase.
