Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,646 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 350 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A320 Neo from EDDP Leipzig-Halle to EYKA Kaunas Intl was a smooth and efficient journey.
The taxiing from the parking to the runway took 7 minutes, covering 2 nm. The departure roll from runway 26L at EDDP was quick, with a takeoff distance of 1,099 m (31% of the runway). The liftoff speed was 146 kn. The local weather at the time of departure was favorable, with a temperature of 17 °C and a crosswind of 7 kn and headwind of 3 kn.
The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Schkeuditz, climbing from 1,316 ft to 38,347 ft, with an increase of 37,031 ft in 19 minutes and covering 140 nm. The enroute level cruise began 2 miles northeast of Trzebiszewo and lasted 23 minutes, covering 187 nm.
The enroute descent started overhead Jonkowo, descending from 38,506 ft to 14,167 ft, a decrease of 24,339 ft in 16 minutes and covering 95 nm. Another enroute level cruise started 5 miles south of Kybartai, lasting 11 minutes and covering less than 1 nm.
The final enroute descent started 5 miles south of Kybartai, descending from 13,943 ft to 2,029 ft, a decrease of 11,914 ft in 19 minutes and covering 47 nm. The taxiing from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 478 nm, taking 108 minutes and using 2,755 kg of fuel. Overall, the flight in the Airbus A320 Neo was a successful and efficient journey.
First off, congratulations on achieving an impressive aircraft landing score of 95.0%! Your performance in the various phases of the landing process shows a high level of skill and precision.
In the Approach Phase, your excellent glideslope alignment indicates a strong ability to maintain the correct descent path towards the runway. This is crucial for a smooth and safe landing. Keep up the good work in this area as it sets the foundation for a successful touchdown.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it's great to see that you had a good threshold height and very good landing flare. The threshold height is important for ensuring the aircraft touches down at the right point on the runway, while a good landing flare helps in reducing the vertical speed just before touchdown. These factors contribute to a well-executed landing and it's clear that you have a good grasp of these techniques.
In the Touchdown Phase, your touchdown rate was noted as hard, which may be an area to focus on for improvement. A softer touchdown is generally preferred to minimize stress on the aircraft components and ensure a smoother experience for passengers. However, it's positive to see that your touchdown speed was on target and the touchdown distance was inside the touchdown zone. Additionally, your runway touchdown position being 10.1 m from the centreline is commendable and shows a good level of accuracy.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, maintaining runway alignment is key for a safe rollout and efficient taxiing. Being 9.1 m from the centreline demonstrates effective control of the aircraft during this phase of the landing process.
Overall, your performance in each phase of the landing process is reflective of your strong piloting skills and attention to detail. Keep up the good work and continue to fine-tune your techniques to achieve even higher scores in the future. With dedication and practice, you can further enhance your landing proficiency and excel in your aviation endeavors. Great job on a stellar landing score!
