MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,766 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,766 m of the 3,345 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 567 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDW Bremen Airport, taking approximately 6 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 27, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 140 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 23°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 99°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it passed over the town of Stuhr in Lower Saxony, Germany. The enroute climb phase saw the aircraft ascend from an initial altitude of 1,015 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 38,047 feet, an increase of 37,032 feet in just 24 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 131 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began approximately 5 miles east of Volendam in the Netherlands. This phase lasted for 14 minutes and covered a distance of 95 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 27 miles northwest of Westkapelle in the Netherlands. The descent phase saw the aircraft drop from an altitude of 38,065 feet to 7,874 feet, a decrease of 30,190 feet in just 18 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 99 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which began 2 miles southwest of Kelvedon Hatch in Essex, England. This phase lasted for just 3 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile southeast of Barnet in Greater London, England. The descent phase saw the aircraft drop from an altitude of 7,859 feet to 4,731 feet, a decrease of 3,128 feet in just 2 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which began overhead Archway in Greater London, England. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Peckham in Greater London, England. The descent phase saw the aircraft drop from an altitude of 4,016 feet to 1,369 feet, a decrease of 2,647 feet in just 3 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27L at EGLL London Heathrow Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 270.0° at an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold. The landing took place on the runway, with the aircraft touching down 154 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above target at 141 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -371 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.1 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 19°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots at 220°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,688 meters, which was 50% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 5 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 367 nautical miles, which was covered in 81 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,763 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 27L at EGLL London Heathrow Airport, achieving a score of 91.6%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 154 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-target. The touchdown speed of 140 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -371 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 19°C and a moderate wind of 9 knots at 220°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,688 meters was 50% of the runway length, indicating a relatively normal landing distance. However, the touchdown speed and position were slightly off-target. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the Airbus A321 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in landing on runway 27L at EGLL London Heathrow Airport, achieving a score of 91.6%.
