Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,500 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,500 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 341 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 36 at GCLA La Palma Airport, a small airport located in the Canary Islands, Spain. The TBM 850 aircraft accelerated down the 328-meter runway, taking off at a speed of 100 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind component.
As the aircraft lifted off the ground, it began its enroute climb, ascending from an initial altitude of 569 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 1,976 feet. This climb phase was completed in just one minute, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The climb rate was impressive, with the aircraft gaining an altitude of 1,407 feet in a short period of time.
Once the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it entered a level cruise phase, flying for 12 minutes at a steady altitude. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 42 nautical miles, flying at a steady speed. The cruise phase was completed 2 miles south east of Brena Baja, another airport in the Canary Islands.
As the aircraft approached its destination, GCGM La Gomera Airport, it began its final approach to runway 09. The approach was made from the west, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 81.0 degrees and an altitude of 1,082 feet above ground level. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at departure, with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees.
The landing was executed smoothly, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 70 knots. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast, and the aircraft's descent rate was fair at -216 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the aircraft's rollout alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance was 504 meters, which was 34% of the runway length. The aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 50 nautical miles, and the flight used 53 kilograms of fuel. Overall, the flight was executed smoothly and efficiently, with the aircraft performing well in the local weather conditions.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at GCGM La Gomera Airport, achieving a high score of 99.2%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 81.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,082 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 09, which has a length of 1,500 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed, coming in at 77 knots. This may have been due to the aircraft's approach configuration or the pilot's decision to prioritize a safe landing over a precise speed.
The touchdown distance was good, measuring 337 meters, which is a reasonable distance for a landing on a runway of this length. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 70 knots, which may have contributed to a slightly higher touchdown rate of -216 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 270°. There was no significant crosswind or tailwind component, which made the landing conditions relatively straightforward.
The total landing distance was 504 meters, which is 34% of the runway length. This is a reasonable distance, considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase and did not deviate from the centerline.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was well-handled by the pilot. The high score achieved is a testament to the pilot's skill and experience, as well as the aircraft's performance capabilities.
