Departure
Hold the nose down until the speed reaches 58 kt, then rotate.
What happened: You started the rotation at 46 kt, 12 kt before the 58 kt rotation speed.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 58 kt at rotation

Arrival
Time the turn onto base by bank angle so you roll out at the proper 45 degree angle to the runway, not sooner or later.
What happened: The turn from downwind onto base was rolled out at the wrong angle to the runway rather than the intended 45 degree join.
Watch for: Watch your angle to the runway through the base turn, aiming to roll out at 45 degrees.
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 421 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Cessna Skyhawk taxied to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde and commenced the take-off roll. The aircraft accelerated over a measured distance of 355 m, representing 14 % of the available runway, and lifted off at 57 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind from 270° at 2 kt, including a 1-kt cross-component and a 2-kt head-wind component.
During the approach the pilot entered a left-hand pattern to runway 23. The entry segment covered less than 1 nm in 26 s, followed by a left-hand crosswind leg of less than 1 nm completed in 17 s. The downwind turn spanned 1 nm with a 45° heading change to 82.8°, after which the downwind leg extended 2 nm and was flown in 63 s. The base-leg turn also covered 1 nm with a 45° heading change to 50.6°, and the subsequent base leg was less than 1 nm in 26 s. The final turn to the runway was less than 1 nm and lasted 11 s before alignment for landing.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose total length is 2 490 m. The threshold height and speed were satisfactory, with a threshold speed of 63 kt. Touchdown occurred 420 m down the runway at 41 kt, with a vertical rate of minus 41 fpm. The touchdown point was offset by 3.4 m to the right of the centreline. Weather at the time mirrored the departure conditions: 15 °C, wind from 270° at 2 kt, 1-kt cross-wind and 2-kt head-wind. The total landing roll measured 564 m, equivalent to 23 % of the runway, and the rollout remained well aligned.
The rollout phase concluded with the aircraft maintaining very good alignment along the runway centreline until the exit point.
In total the flight covered 7 nm, required a duration of 5 (units as given), and consumed 2 kg of fuel.
The aircraft crossed the threshold at a good height and established the required threshold speed of 63 kt, both recorded as good. Ambient temperature was 15 °C with a light wind of 2 kt from 270°, providing a 2 kt head-wind component and a 1 kt cross-wind component.
Touchdown occurred 420 m down the runway at a good speed of 41 kt and a perfect vertical rate of -41 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly off centreline, measured at 3.4 m to the side of the runway centreline.
The total landing distance measured 564 m, representing 23 % of the 2,490 m runway, and the rollout alignment was judged very good.
Maintain the excellent overall technique but focus on reducing the 3.4 m centreline deviation at touchdown to achieve a more precise touchdown point near the intended aim point.
