Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,984 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 358 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, taking 13 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 25, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,369 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 19°C and winds of 2 knots at 59°. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead the airport and rising from 1,036 feet above sea level to 37,397 feet, an increase of 36,361 feet in 26 minutes, covering a distance of 170 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile north-east of Serramazzoni, Italy, and lasted for 30 minutes, covering a distance of 229 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Irndorf, Germany, and descending from 37,378 feet to 4,190 feet, a decrease of 33,187 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 114 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 2 miles north of Buttelborn, Germany, and lasting for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile south-east of Mainz, Germany, and the aircraft descended from 3,470 feet to 1,615 feet, a decrease of 1,855 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07R at Frankfurt Airport took place from the south-west, with the aircraft heading at 69.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,265 feet above ground level. The landing took place on the runway, with a total landing distance of 1,241 meters, which was 31% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 130 knots, and the touchdown rate was hard at -489 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16°C and winds of 10 knots at 20°. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 6 knots. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 11 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 537 nautical miles, taking 111 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,348 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) on runway 07R, achieving a score of 96.3%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 69.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,265 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with a good threshold height and speed of 134 knots at touchdown. The touchdown distance of 357 meters was also within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly higher than the optimal speed, indicating a potential for improved control during the landing phase.
The aircraft's descent rate was notable, with a hard touchdown rate of -489 feet per minute (fpm). This may have been influenced by the aircraft's speed and the local weather conditions. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating precise control and navigation during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 20°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's performance and control during the landing phase.
The total landing distance of 1,241 meters was 31% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, maintaining control and stability during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Airbus A321 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency during the landing at Frankfurt Airport, with a score of 96.3%. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and descent rate to achieve even better performance.
