Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,470 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 975 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 22 at PAWR Whittier Airport. The aircraft, a DA62, took off with a takeoff distance of 181 feet, which accounted for 13% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 76 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 306 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of PAWR Whittier Airport. The climb started from an altitude of 998 feet above sea level and reached a height of 1,995 feet above sea level, an increase of 997 feet in just 1 minute. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 2 nautical miles.
After completing the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 30 minutes and covered a distance of 70 nautical miles. This phase of the flight took place 1 mile northeast of PAWR Whittier Airport.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 06 at PAVD Valdez Pioneer Field. The approach was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 82.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway and an altitude of 1,053 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 06 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 72 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -129 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 36 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 35 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,195 feet, which accounted for 34% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The total flight distance was 76 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 32 minutes. The aircraft used 1 pound of fuel during the flight.
The DA62 aircraft successfully landed at PAVD Valdez Pioneer Field, achieving a high score of 99.1%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 82.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,053 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing on runway 06.
The runway at PAVD Valdez Pioneer Field has a length of 6,470 feet, providing a sufficient margin for the DA62's landing. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 86 knots was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the approach.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's touchdown distance was good at 969 feet, which is a relatively short distance considering the runway's length. However, the touchdown speed of 72 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have been due to the pilot's decision to flare the aircraft slightly earlier than necessary. Despite this, the touchdown rate was smooth at -129 feet per minute (fpm), indicating that the aircraft's descent was well-controlled.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot had excellent control over the aircraft's direction and speed during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 36°F and winds of 8 knots from 35°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was also 6 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed.
The total landing distance of 2,195 feet was 34% of the runway's length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had excellent control over the aircraft's direction and speed during the rollout phase. Overall, the DA62's landing at PAVD Valdez Pioneer Field was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
