Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,914 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,914 m of the 3,222 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 756 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 24 at OJAM Amman Civil (Marka International) Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,287 meters, which was 67% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 290 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead Amman, Jordan. The climb took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 107 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 3,413 feet above sea level to 31,976 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,563 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 6 miles northwest of OS69 Khalkhalah Air Base Buraq in Syria. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 39 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile southwest of Ma`lula in Syria. The descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 100 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 31,997 feet above sea level to 1,305 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,692 feet.
The final approach to runway 16 at OLBA Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 167.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 16, which had a length of 3,222 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 110 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 1 knot.
The touchdown point was 345 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 144 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -117 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,839 meters, which was 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in 5 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 255 nautical miles, and the flight took 51 minutes. The aircraft used 2,451 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at OLBA Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, achieving a high score of 95.7%. The final approach to runway 16 was conducted from the north, with a heading of 167.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold speed of 144 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown point was located 345 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft landed slightly ahead of the intended spot. The touchdown speed of 144 knots was also slightly faster than ideal, but the touchdown rate of -117 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 11°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 110°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot, which did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,839 meters was 57% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for a safe stop. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision during the landing phase.
