Overview

Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport, also known historically as Lindsay Airport, is a small general-aviation aerodrome located just outside Lindsay in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. It is owned by the City of Kawartha Lakes and operated by The Loomex Group, and functions as a modest but active field for flight training, recreational flying and visiting cross-country traffic, with an on-site restaurant that makes it a popular lunch destination for local pilots.

The airport is situated near Lindsay in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, at coordinates 44.3648 N, 78.7838 W and an elevation of 883 feet. It is a Transport Canada registered aerodrome tagged for CANPASS and customs use.

Runways

Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport has two physical runways. Runway 13/31 is 3490 feet long with a hard surface and is lit, forming the field's main runway. Runway 03/21 is a secondary grass strip measuring 2968 feet in length and is unlit.

Radio & Navigation

Traffic in the area should monitor Toronto Centre on 134.25 MHz. The airport's Aerodrome Traffic Frequency/UNICOM is 122.725 MHz, which operates as the local advisory and unicom service during staffed hours. There is no ILS at the field.

History

The airport is owned by the City of Kawartha Lakes and is operated on the city's behalf by The Loomex Group. It is registered with Transport Canada and provides 24-hour access thanks to an aircraft radio operated runway lighting system. Businesses based on the field have included the Airportview Restaurant and WM Aero, a flight training and maintenance operation.

The Airfield Today

The airport is professionally managed and staffed most days of the week and offers a self-service card lock fuel system dispensing 100LL and Jet A, with the Unicom service operating during staffed hours. Facilities include two city-owned hangar complexes each housing ten aircraft, parking for tenants and visiting aircraft, a pilot lounge, the airport manager's office, and the on-site Airportview Restaurant alongside the WM Aero flight training and maintenance facility. As a CANPASS and customs-designated airport, prior arrangements are required for aircraft arriving from outside Canada.
