Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,483 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 292 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Boeing 777-300 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 24, with a takeoff distance of 1,022 meters, which is 32% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 172 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, with no wind at all. The aircraft then took off and began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Aalsmeerderbrug in the Netherlands. The climb was from an altitude of 1,021 feet above sea level to 36,354 feet, an increase of 35,333 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 89 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Denderhoutem in Belgium. This phase lasted for 183 minutes, covering a distance of 1,297 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 96 miles northeast of Porto Santo Airport in Madeira, Portugal. The descent was from an altitude of 37,239 feet to 2,004 feet, a decrease of 35,235 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 118 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 5 miles northeast of Canical in Madeira, Portugal. This phase lasted for only 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 4 miles southeast of Agua de Pena in Madeira. The descent was from an altitude of 2,016 feet to 446 feet, a decrease of 1,569 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 05 at Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo was from the southwest, heading at 44.0 degrees at an altitude of 273 feet above ground level. The landing was smooth, with a touchdown speed of 136 knots and a touchdown rate of -333 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with no wind at all.
The total landing distance was 1,261 meters, which is 51% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,520 nautical miles, taking a total of 233 minutes, and the aircraft used 27,846 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at LPMA Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo, achieving a score of 98.0%. The final approach to runway 05 was executed from the south-west, with a heading of 44.0° at 1 nautical mile and 273 feet above ground level (agl). This indicates a precise and controlled descent into the airport.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 142 knots, which is within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 292 meters was also within the expected range, demonstrating a smooth and controlled landing. The touchdown speed of 136 knots was also satisfactory, and the touchdown rate of -333 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a stable and controlled descent.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, which is a critical aspect of a safe and successful landing. This suggests that the pilot maintained precise control over the aircraft's descent and alignment with the runway. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 0 knots at 360°. This meant that there was no crosswind or headwind to affect the landing, making it an ideal scenario for the pilot.
The total landing distance of 1,261 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a reasonable and acceptable distance. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop within a safe and controlled distance from the runway threshold. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating that the pilot maintained control over the aircraft's movement after touchdown and was able to bring it to a stop safely and efficiently.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 777-300 at LPMA Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo was a success, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 98.0%. The precise and controlled descent, smooth touchdown, and stable rollout all contributed to a safe and efficient landing.
