Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 673 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 673 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 62 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 09 at EBZH Kiewit Airfield in Hasselt. The Cessna C172 aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 166 meters, which was 27% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 65 knots, marking the start of the takeoff phase.
As the aircraft climbed out of EBZH, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south east of Zonhoven, a town in Flanders, Belgium. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from 943 feet above sea level to 2,160 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. This rapid ascent was followed by a level cruise, which started 1 mile west of Zonhoven and lasted for 28 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase began 1 mile north east of Moorsel, another town in Flanders, Belgium. The aircraft descended from 2,158 feet to 1,700 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. Following this descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south west of Moorsel and lasted for 27 minutes, covering a distance of 36 nautical miles.
The final descent phase began overhead Ledegem, a town in Flanders, Belgium. The aircraft descended from 1,676 feet to 1,200 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. From this point, the aircraft entered a short level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south of Oekene and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at EBMO Moorsele Airfield was made from the south west, with the aircraft heading 284.0 degrees at 0 nautical miles and 857 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 51 knots and a distance of 49 meters. The touchdown rate was fair at -233 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The flight was completed with a total distance of 93 nautical miles, taking 91 minutes to cover this distance. The aircraft used 55 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which was conducted in a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at EBMO Moorsele Airfield, achieving a score of 74.0%. The final approach was conducted from the south-west, aligning with the runway 04 heading of 284.0°. At the point of initiation, the aircraft was at 0 nm and 857 ft above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed on runway 04, which has a length of 673 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at a suitable altitude for landing. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 54 kt, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more optimal approach speed.
The touchdown distance of 49 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and was able to touch down at a reasonable distance from the runway threshold. The touchdown speed of 51 kt was also reported as good, suggesting that the pilot had managed to maintain a safe and controlled approach speed.
The touchdown rate of -233 fpm was classified as fair, which may indicate that the pilot could have managed a more gradual descent. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain a stable and controlled approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, which may have had some impact on the aircraft's performance. However, the pilot's skills and experience were likely sufficient to adapt to these conditions and execute a safe and successful landing. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and judgment throughout the approach and landing phases.
