MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,440 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 769 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at London City Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 27, with the aircraft taking off after covering 97% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,296 meters, and the liftoff speed was 169 knots.
As the aircraft departed, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 19 knots at 310 degrees. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Canary Wharf, Greater London, and ascended from 1,033 feet above sea level to 2,704 feet, an increase of 1,671 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 2 miles south of Woodford Green, Greater London, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time overhead Collier Row, Greater London, and ascended from 3,186 feet to 22,462 feet, an increase of 19,275 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 54 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 8 miles south of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, and lasted for 19 minutes, covering a distance of 120 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 1 mile west of EGBQ Stancombe Farm Airstrip, Bridport, Dorset, and descended from 22,222 feet to 3,399 feet, a decrease of 18,823 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 77 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 30 at EGHQ Cornwall Airport Newquay, flying from the south east and heading 301.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,322 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 30, which had a length of 2,440 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 350 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -321 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 17 knots at 350 degrees, with a crosswind component of 13 knots and a headwind component of 11 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,418 meters, which was 58% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 283 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 65 minutes, with the aircraft using 3,026 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EGHQ Cornwall Airport Newquay, achieving a score of 90.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, heading 301.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,322 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions.
The temperature at the time of landing was 5°C, with a wind speed of 17 knots blowing from 350°. This resulted in a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 11 knots. Despite these conditions, the pilot maintained excellent control, ensuring a smooth and stable approach. The threshold speed was good, reaching 142 knots, and the touchdown point was 350 meters beyond the touchdown zone.
The touchdown speed of 128 knots was also within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -321 feet per minute (fpm) was firm but not excessive. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 1,418 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and skill, and the pilot's performance was commendable given the challenging weather conditions.
