Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,518 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,518 m of the 3,075 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,663 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 25L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 39% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,546 meters, and the liftoff speed was 169 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 8°C and winds of 5 knots at 189 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, and the headwind was 3 knots. After departing from EDDB, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of the airport and rising from an altitude of 1,181 feet above sea level to 33,241 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 118 nautical miles and took 19 minutes, with the aircraft increasing its altitude by 32,060 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile southeast of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in Lower Saxony, Germany. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 119 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Hattingen in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The descent took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 102 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude by 31,897 feet from 33,307 feet above sea level to 1,410 feet above sea level.
As the aircraft approached its destination, EBBR Brussels Airport, it began its final approach to runway 25R from the northeast, heading 245.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,250 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 25R, which had a length of 3,075 meters. Although the threshold speed was too high at 180 knots, the touchdown speed was good at 140 knots, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -55 feet per minute. However, the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 10°C and winds of 4 knots at 220 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 6.9 meters. The total landing distance was 2,443 meters, which was 79% of the runway's length. After landing, the aircraft experienced a misaligned runway rollout alignment, being off-centre by 15.6 meters.
The final stage of the flight involved taxiing the aircraft from the runway to the parking area, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 348 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 66 minutes. The aircraft used 3,163 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 25R at EBBR Brussels Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 245.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,250 feet above ground level. The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was very long, utilizing more than 50% of the available runway. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly too high or too fast during the approach.
The threshold speed was too high at 180 knots, which may have contributed to the long touchdown point. However, the touchdown speed at 140 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -55 feet per minute was excellent. This suggests that the aircraft was able to slow down quickly and smoothly after touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or during the landing roll.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 220°. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, and the headwind was 4 knots, which may have helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach. The total landing distance was 2,443 meters, which is 79% of the available runway length of 3,075 meters.
During the rollout, the aircraft was misaligned by 15.6 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the landing roll or a failure to correct for the initial misalignment. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the aircraft was able to touch down safely and come to a stop within the available runway length. However, there is room for improvement in terms of approach speed and touchdown point.
