Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,776 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,776 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 52 ft short of the threshold. The 2.94 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Antonov An-2 taxied from the parking area to the runway in less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm before line-up for departure.
The aircraft commenced its departure roll on runway 24 at VNLK Lukla Airport, accelerating through a takeoff distance of 1,017 ft, which represented 57 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 61 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 55 °F with a wind of 2 kt from 107°, including a 2 kt crosswind component and a 1 kt tailwind.
Climb began immediately after liftoff, with the An-2 climbing from 9,025 ft asl to 9,068 ft asl, an altitude gain of 44 ft achieved in 1 minute while covering 2 nm.
The final approach was executed to runway 06 at VNLK Lukla Airport from the south-west, maintaining a heading of 58.0° at 0 nm and an altitude of minus 277 ft agl.
Touchdown occurred before the runway threshold at a speed of 42 kt and a descent rate of minus 95 fpm. The touchdown point was offset by 34 ft from the centreline. Weather at the time mirrored the departure conditions, with a temperature of 55 °F, a 2 kt crosswind, and a 1 kt headwind.
Rollout continued for a total landing distance of 302 ft, representing 17 % of the runway length, and the aircraft remained slightly off centreline by 35 ft during the deceleration phase.
In total, the flight covered 2 nm, lasted 2 minutes, and consumed 0 lbs of fuel.
The final approach to runway 06 at VNLK Lukla Airport was flown from the south-west on a heading of 58.0 ° at 0 nm and -277 ft AGL. Local weather was 55 °F with wind 2 kt from 107 °, providing a 2 kt crosswind component and a 1 kt headwind component.
During the threshold and flare segment the aircraft began its flare before reaching the runway threshold, resulting in ground contact prior to the threshold line.
Touchdown occurred at a speed of 42 kt, which the data describes as good, and the vertical speed was -95 fpm, rated as excellent. The touchdown point was misaligned by 34 ft from the centreline, and the total landing distance measured 302 ft, representing 17 % of the runway length.
Rollout alignment was slightly misaligned, with the aircraft deviating 35 ft from the centreline while decelerating to a stop.
To refine the performance, aim to achieve touchdown beyond the runway threshold to utilize the full available landing distance, and adjust the approach path to reduce lateral deviation and keep the aircraft within a tighter centreline corridor.
