Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,203 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 593 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A flight departed from OENG Najran Domestic Airport, located in the Najran Region of Saudi Arabia, and headed towards OERK King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, began its takeoff roll on runway 06, covering 56% of the 1,696-meter runway before lifting off at a speed of 158 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 18°C, with a gentle headwind of 2 knots and a crosswind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it traversed a distance of 181 nautical miles in 27 minutes, reaching an altitude of 37,009 feet above sea level. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted for 22 minutes and covered 161 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, gradually losing altitude over the course of several segments, with the final descent phase commencing 56 miles south-west of Riyadh. The aircraft touched down on runway 15R at OERK King Khaled International Airport, with a touchdown speed of 132 knots and a touchdown rate of -177 feet per minute. The total landing distance was 1,069 meters, accounting for 25% of the 4,211-meter runway.
The flight's performance was notable for its efficient fuel consumption, with a total fuel usage of 5,314 kilograms. The aircraft's taxiing times were also relatively short, with 5 minutes required to reach the parking area from the runway on both departure and arrival. The total flight distance was 608 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 1 hour and 17 minutes. The local weather conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 13°C, with a gentle tailwind of 1 knot and a crosswind of 1 knot.
The aircraft touched down on runway 15R at OERK King Khaled International Airport, demonstrating a good threshold height. The threshold speed was well-managed, coming in at 137 kt, which is within the acceptable range. As the aircraft made contact with the runway, it touched down 180 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a speed of 132 kt, slightly above the ideal touchdown speed. However, the touchdown rate of -177 fpm was satisfactory, indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly off-centre, deviating by 3.6 m from the centreline. Despite this, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 13 °C and a gentle wind of 2 kt at 10 °, did not pose a significant challenge to the landing. The crosswind and tailwind components were minimal, at 1 kt each, further contributing to a smooth touchdown.
The aircraft's rollout was characterized by excellent alignment, with the aircraft staying on course. The total landing distance of 1,069 m, which accounts for 25% of the runway length, was reasonable, given the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was deemed satisfactory, with a score of 97.9%, reflecting the minor deviations from ideal touchdown speed and centreline alignment.
