Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,810 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 534 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 06 at ZWYN Yining Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,346 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 148 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 15 °C and winds of 3 knots at 227 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was 2 knots. After departing from ZWYN Yining Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of the airport. The climb took 31 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 3,428 feet above sea level to 37,624 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,196 feet. The climb covered a distance of 192 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 3 miles southwest of UAAA Almaty International Airport. This cruise phase lasted for 228 minutes and covered a distance of 1,548 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 48 miles west of OIBJ Jam Airport. The descent took 18 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 37,719 feet above sea level to 1,511 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,207 feet. The descent covered a distance of 112 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 8 miles northeast of OBBS Sheik Isa Air Base. This cruise phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 33R at OBBS Sheik Isa Air Base, approaching from the southeast at a heading of 338.0 degrees. The aircraft was at 4 nautical miles and 1,202 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 33R was successful, with a total landing distance of 1,061 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The touchdown point was 114 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was perfect at -29 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 35 °C and winds of 4 knots at 78 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,870 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 286 minutes. The aircraft used 11,031 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at OBBS Sheik Isa Air Base, achieving a high score of 98.4%. The final approach to runway 33R was conducted from the south east, with the aircraft heading 338.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,202 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold speed being slightly above the target at 134 knots. The touchdown point was located 114 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 122 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -29 feet per minute was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 35°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 78°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the tailwind component was 1 knot. Despite these conditions, the aircraft's landing performance was satisfactory.
The total landing distance of 1,061 meters was 28% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing for a stable and controlled deceleration.
Overall, the landing of the Boeing 737-700 at OBBS Sheik Isa Air Base was a successful operation, with the aircraft performing well in the given weather conditions. The minor deviations in touchdown point and runway alignment were not significant enough to impact the overall safety and efficiency of the landing.
