Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,824 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,824 m of the 2,738 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 830 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a CRJ900, then departed from runway 07 at the KBQK Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,178 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 120 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the KBQK Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,024 feet above sea level to 22,733 feet above sea level, an increase of 21,709 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 9 miles south-east of the KBHC Baxley Municipal Airport, and lasted for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 89 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 4 miles north-east of the KWRB Robins Air Force Base, where it descended from 22,737 feet above sea level to 12,599 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,138 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started again overhead Flovilla, where the aircraft climbed from 12,948 feet above sea level to 23,103 feet above sea level, an increase of 10,155 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 1 mile east of the 0GE4 Pecan Patch Airstrip, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 2 miles north-east of Tyrone, where the aircraft descended from 22,731 feet above sea level to 9,484 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,247 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 1 mile south of the KATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 20 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08L at the KATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport was made from the west, heading 89.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,423 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 08L, which had a length of 2,738 meters. The threshold height at 68 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 156 knots.
The touchdown point was 420 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 140 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was good at -167 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 150 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,749 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 262 nautical miles, taking 65 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,874 kilograms of fuel.
The CRJ900 aircraft successfully landed on runway 08L at KATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the west, heading 89.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,423 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with a local temperature of 18°C and wind conditions of 8 kt at 150°, resulting in a 7 kt crosswind and a 4 kt headwind.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold height was above the target at 68 ft agl, and the threshold speed was significantly higher than the target at 156 kt. The touchdown point was located 420 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 140 kt was slightly faster than the ideal speed. However, the touchdown rate of -167 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters, which may have contributed to the deviation from the ideal touchdown point. The total landing distance of 1,749 meters was 64% of the runway length, which is within an acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied effectively to bring the plane to a stop.
Overall, while the CRJ900 aircraft landed safely on runway 08L, there were some areas for improvement in terms of speed, height, and touchdown point alignment. However, the good touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment suggest that the pilots were able to effectively manage the aircraft's descent and braking.
