MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 765 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 765 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 107 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna C172, then departed from runway 18 at S21 Sunriver, with a takeoff distance of 740 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 61 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -2°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 19°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind was 10 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of Sunriver, Oregon, and ascended from 4,570 feet above sea level to 6,661 feet, an increase of 2,091 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles northwest of S21 Sunriver and lasted 2 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb 5 miles northwest of Sunriver, ascending from 7,005 feet to 7,539 feet, an increase of 534 feet in 2 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise that followed lasted 11 minutes, covering 17 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its descent 6 miles southwest of Sisters, Oregon, and descended from 7,072 feet to 6,598 feet, a decrease of 474 feet in 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise that followed lasted 2 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 5 miles southwest of Black Butte Ranch, descending from 6,588 feet to 1,141 feet, a decrease of 5,446 feet in 3 minutes, covering 91 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise that followed lasted 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles, and took place overhead Vancouver, Washington. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 08 at KVUO Pearson Field from the west, heading 98.0° at 0 nautical miles and 286 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 08 at KVUO Pearson Field was successful, with a touchdown distance of 106 meters. The touchdown speed was 65 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown rate was firm at -392 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 329°. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the tailwind was 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 483 meters, which accounted for 63% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 128 nautical miles, taking 32 minutes, and the aircraft used 34 kilograms of fuel.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed on runway 08 at KVUO Pearson Field, achieving a score of 95.0%. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 98.0° at 0 nm and 286 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was found to be above the target speed of 70 kt, indicating a slightly aggressive approach. However, the touchdown distance of 106 m was considered good, suggesting that the pilot managed to control the aircraft's descent effectively. The touchdown speed of 65 kt was slightly faster than the ideal speed, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -392 fpm.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the crosswind or tailwind conditions. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 5 °C and wind speeds of 4 kt at 329°. The crosswind component was 4 kt, while the tailwind component was 3 kt.
Despite the slight misalignment, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. The total landing distance of 483 m was 63% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and the wind conditions. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and touchdown phases.
