MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,361 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 594 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 12 at OMDW Al Maktoum International Airport, a major international airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The takeoff distance was 1,255 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 154 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 38 degrees Celsius and winds of 6 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the tailwind was 5 knots. The enroute climb started 2 miles south of the airport and took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,197 feet above sea level to 38,426 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,229 feet in 37 minutes, covering a distance of 284 nautical miles.
After reaching its cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 145 minutes and covered a distance of 2,478 nautical miles. This phase started 25 miles northeast of Sur, Oman. Following the cruise phase, the aircraft began its descent, which started 28 miles west of WMKL Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 38,510 feet above sea level to 1,302 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,209 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 95 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at WMKP Penang International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 42.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 04, which had a length of 3,361 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 134 knots. The touchdown point was 176 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -167 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 27 degrees Celsius and winds of 2 knots at 10 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,087 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway in 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2,864 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 207 minutes. The aircraft used 15,099 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at WMKP Penang International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.3%. The final approach to runway 04 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 42.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 134 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing conditions. The touchdown point was located 176 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may be considered a minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 122 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, but the touchdown rate of -167 feet per minute was within the acceptable range. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing process.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 10°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing process.
The total landing distance of 1,087 meters was 32% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing process. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a short distance of the runway.
