Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,589 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,589 m of the 2,285 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 825 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LSZH Zürich Airport, taking approximately 3 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 28, with the takeoff distance covering 51% of the runway's length at 1,274 meters. The liftoff speed was 149 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 35°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 50°.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, starting overhead Rumlang in the Kanton Zurich region of Switzerland. The climb from 2,449 feet above sea level to 36,172 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,723 feet, took 18 minutes and covered 107 nautical miles. Following this, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 2 miles north of Mainhardt in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, and lasting 31 minutes as it covered 237 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 2 miles east of Ketzin in Brandenburg, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 36,226 feet above sea level to 2,365 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,861 feet, in 18 minutes and covering 96 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 4 miles northwest of Czarnocin in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, and lasting only 2 minutes as it covered 4 nautical miles. The final descent began 1 mile south of Lubin in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, where the aircraft descended from 2,506 feet above sea level to 1,338 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,168 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 28 at EDAH Heringsdorf Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 285.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,244 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 28, which had a length of 2,285 meters. The threshold height was above the target at 69 feet above ground level, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 138 knots. The touchdown point was 406 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 124 knots and a touchdown rate of -179 feet per minute, both of which were good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 347°. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,505 meters, which was 66% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.3 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking less than 1 minute to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 456 nautical miles, taking 78 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,217 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at EDAH Heringsdorf Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.3%. The final approach to runway 28 was initiated from the east, heading 285.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,244 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the touchdown point located 406 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 124 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -179 feet per minute (fpm) was also satisfactory. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal landing position.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 347°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing, as the aircraft was able to maintain control and touch down safely.
The total landing distance of 1,505 meters was 66% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.3 meters from the centerline, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal rollout path.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and maintaining control throughout the rollout. However, there were minor deviations from the ideal landing position and rollout path, which may be addressed in future training exercises to improve the pilot's skills and precision.
