Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,284 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 419 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an EasyJet FWB, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR). This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. Once at the runway, the aircraft departed from runway 26L, with a takeoff distance of 849 meters, which accounted for 26% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 146 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead CYVR, rising from an altitude of 1,022 feet above sea level to 1,973 feet above sea level, an increase of 950 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The local weather conditions during this time were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 1 knot at 270 degrees. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 1 knot.
The enroute level cruise began 5 miles southwest of the Vancouver International Seaplane Base (CAM9), and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 26L at CYVR, coming in from the east at a heading of 285.0 degrees, at an altitude of 1,112 feet above ground level, and 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 26L was successful, with a threshold speed of 128 knots and a touchdown speed of 123 knots. The touchdown distance was 417 meters, and the touchdown rate was firm at -362 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 6.2 meters. The local weather conditions during the landing were similar to those during the climb, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot at 270 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,162 meters, which accounted for 35% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, taking just 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 25 nautical miles, and the flight lasted for 15 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 8,387 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as FWB EasyJet, successfully landed at Vancouver International Airport (CYVR) on runway 26L. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 285.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,112 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing, achieving a score of 96.5%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 128 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 417 meters was also within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 123 knots was slightly lower than the threshold speed, but still within the acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -362 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled and stable landing.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 6.2 meters off-centerline. This minor misalignment may have been due to various factors, including wind or pilot error. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its direction and speed after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the headwind component was minimal, which likely contributed to the smooth and controlled landing. Overall, the FWB EasyJet aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its landing, with a score of 96.5% and a smooth, controlled touchdown.
