MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Reduce your height at the threshold
Even a modest height error carries straight through to the touchdown. Geometry alone says that crossing the threshold 10 feet high on a 3° path moves your touchdown roughly 190 feet further down the runway before the flare adds anything.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,267 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,267 ft of the 8,987 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,770 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 01R at KTPA Tampa International Airport in 10 minutes, covering approximately 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 01R, the Boeing 737-800 accelerated to a liftoff speed of 145 kt and left the ground after a takeoff distance of 4,737 ft, which represented 57 % of the runway. Ambient conditions were 83 °F with a wind of 1 kt from 225°, a 1 kt crosswind and a 1 kt tailwind.
The climb commenced overhead KTPA, climbing from 422 ft asl to 38,009 ft asl, an altitude gain of 37,588 ft achieved in 19 minutes while covering 123 nm.
The first cruise segment began 7 mi southwest of 33FD R O Ranch STOLport in Mayo, Florida, and lasted 17 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 126 nm at level altitude.
Descent phase one started 6 mi north of Edison, Georgia, with a reduction from 38,000 ft asl to 3,995 ft asl, a loss of 34,005 ft over 25 minutes and a distance of 151 nm.
A brief cruise over Berry Hill Stockbridge, Georgia, followed, lasting 2 minutes and covering 4 nm at level flight.
The second descent began 1 mi south of 8GA0 Pinetree Heliport, Cumming, Georgia, descending from 3,562 ft asl to 2,799 ft asl, a decrease of 763 ft in 2 minutes while traveling 4 nm.
A short cruise segment then proceeded 3 mi west of the same heliport, lasting 3 minutes and covering 7 nm at constant altitude.
The final approach to runway 27L at KATL Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was conducted from the east, aligned on a heading of 270.0° at 4 nm and 1,240 ft agl, followed by a descent from 1,296 ft agl to 74 ft agl in 95 seconds, meeting the stabilization gates.
Landing on runway 27L was executed with a threshold speed of 147 kt and a touchdown speed of 138 kt; the aircraft touched down 1,391 ft beyond the touchdown zone, with a vertical speed of minus 206 fpm and a very good alignment. Local weather reported 75 °F, wind 2 kt from 291°, a 1 kt crosswind and a 1 kt headwind. The total landing distance recorded was 4,988 ft, representing 56 % of the runway.
During rollout the aircraft remained slightly off centreline, with a lateral deviation of 39 ft, before taxiing off the runway.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 7 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 427 nm, lasted 84 minutes, and consumed 7,472 lb of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 approached runway 27L at KATL from the east on a heading of 270.0° at 4 nm and 1,240 ft AGL. The final approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits. Descent was from 1,296 ft AGL to 74 ft AGL in 95 seconds. Local weather was 75 °F with wind 2 kt from 291°, a 1 kt crosswind and a 1 kt headwind.
At the threshold the height of 72 ft AGL was well above target and the threshold speed of 147 kt was slightly above target. The aircraft continued the flare and touched down with a speed of 138 kt, described as a little fast, and a touchdown rate of minus 206 fpm, rated fair. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
Touchdown occurred 1,391 ft beyond the touchdown zone. Speed at touchdown remained 138 kt, a little fast, and the vertical rate was minus 206 fpm, fair. Alignment at touchdown was very good.
The total landing distance was 4,988 ft, representing 56 % of the runway length, and rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 39 ft from the centreline.
To improve the score, aim to achieve touchdown within the designated zone to reduce the excess rollout distance, and maintain tighter centreline control during rollout to eliminate the 39-ft deviation.
