Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,936 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 228 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LDPL Pula Airport took less than a minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The Embraer E190 then began its departure roll on runway 09, utilizing 63% of the 2,936-meter runway to achieve liftoff at a speed of 155 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 17 °C, with a 12-knot headwind and a negligible crosswind component.
As the aircraft climbed away from LDPL Pula Airport, it transitioned into an enroute climb phase, ascending from 1,319 feet above sea level to 1,698 feet in less than a minute, covering a distance of approximately 1 nautical mile. Following this initial climb, the aircraft leveled off and entered a 6-minute cruise phase, during which it covered a distance of 15 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at LDPL Pula Airport was initiated from a heading of 91.0°, approximately 2 nautical miles from the threshold, at an altitude of 419 feet above ground level. However, a go-around was subsequently executed at an altitude of 0 feet above ground level.
The Embraer E190 subsequently landed on runway 09 at LDPL Pula Airport, touching down 199 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 146 knots. The touchdown rate was hard at -446 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 15 °C, with a 15-knot headwind and a 5-knot crosswind component. The total flight distance was 69 nautical miles, with a flight time of 26 minutes and a fuel consumption of 938 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 09 at LDPL Pula Airport from the west was initiated at 2 nm and 419 ft above ground level, heading 91.0°. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height of 64 ft above ground level, although this was above the target height. The threshold speed was too high at 153 kt, indicating a slight over-control by the pilot.
As the aircraft touched down on runway 09, which has a length of 2,936 m, the touchdown point was 199 m beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 146 kt was too fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -446 fpm, indicating a possible loss of control during the landing phase. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 m from the centreline, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind of 15 kt at 69°, resulted in a crosswind of 5 kt and a headwind of 14 kt.
The overall performance of the Embraer E190 during the landing phase was satisfactory, with a score of 83.6%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the high threshold speed and the hard touchdown. The pilot's ability to maintain centreline alignment during the rollout phase was also compromised, resulting in a slight deviation from the centreline. Despite these issues, the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely, and the pilot was able to maintain control throughout the landing phase.
