Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,539 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 749 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDM Munich Airport, a process that took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 08R, with a takeoff distance of 1,713 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 169 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 19°C, a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°, and a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed out of Munich, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south east of the airport. The climb took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 85 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,474 feet above sea level to 28,377 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,903 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 2 miles north east of Terento, Italy, and lasted for 21 minutes, covering a distance of 225 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile north of Castagneto Carducci, Italy, and took 20 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 28,584 feet above sea level to 281 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,303 feet. The descent covered a distance of 62 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 16 at LFKB Bastia-Poretta Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 164.0° at 1 nautical mile and 255 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 16 was successful, with a touchdown point 334 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 140 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -637 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C, a wind speed of 11 knots from 173°, and a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 11 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,309 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took only 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 378 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 63 minutes, during which the aircraft used 190 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LFKB Bastia-Poretta Airport, achieving an overall score of 85.8%. The final approach to runway 16 was initiated from the north, with a heading of 164.0° at 1 nautical mile and 255 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold speed of 141 knots, which is within the acceptable range.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold height at 67 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 140 knots was a little fast, which could have contributed to a heavier touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -637 feet per minute (fpm) was indeed heavy, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a higher than ideal rate of descent.
Despite these minor issues, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a headwind of 11 knots at 173°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,309 meters was 52% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.6 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have deviated slightly from the ideal rollout path. Overall, the landing was successful, but there are areas for improvement to achieve a higher score.
