MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,631 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,631 m of the 3,662 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 928 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Dubai International Airport (OMDB), the Boeing 777F began its journey with a taxiing period of 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile to reach the runway. The departure roll commenced on runway 30R, with a takeoff distance of 2,035 meters, accounting for 57% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 193 knots, amidst local weather conditions of 31°C temperature and a 2-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed out of Dubai, it transitioned into an enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 31,481 feet above sea level in 22 minutes, covering 170 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted for 72 minutes and spanned 714 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another climb phase, increasing its altitude by 501 feet in 2 minutes, before transitioning into a prolonged level cruise that covered 5,288 nautical miles over 587 minutes. The descent phase commenced 1 mile south of Tarrington, Australia, with the aircraft descending from 34,997 feet to 3,269 feet in 19 minutes, covering 123 nautical miles. The final approach to Melbourne International Airport (YMML) was executed from the north, with a heading of 172.0° and a touchdown point 511 meters beyond the touchdown zone.
The Boeing 777F landed on runway 16 at YMML, with a total landing distance of 1,550 meters, accounting for 42% of the runway. The touchdown speed was 128 knots, and the touchdown rate was -282 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 6,336 nautical miles, completed in 713 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 107,203 kilograms.
The Boeing 777F touched down on runway 16 at YMML Melbourne International Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, demonstrating good control and precision. The aircraft descended from 1,328 feet above ground level (agl) at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold, aligning itself with the runway heading of 172.0°. The threshold height was well-managed, and the threshold speed of 140 knots was achieved as expected.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed of 128 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown point was located 511 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. However, the touchdown rate of -282 feet per minute (fpm) was slightly below the optimal rate, resulting in a fair assessment. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained its centerline alignment throughout the landing phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 280°, contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,550 meters, accounting for 42% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating excellent control and precision during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing performance of the Boeing 777F at YMML Melbourne International Airport scored 89.6%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and adherence to standard operating procedures.
