MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,869 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,869 m of the 2,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 947 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an F-35C Lightning, then departed from runway 12 at EFPO Pori Airport in Finland. The takeoff distance was 888 meters, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 204 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 270 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Ulvila, Finland. The climb took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,051 feet above sea level to 29,692 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 45 minutes and covered a distance of 408 nautical miles. This phase began 6 miles west of Pori, Finland. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began 13 miles northeast of Jastarnia, Poland. The descent took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 24 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 29,975 feet to 1,327 feet.
The final approach to runway 31 at EPOK Oksywie Military Air Base was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 317.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,195 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 31, which had a length of 2,494 meters. The threshold height at 85 feet above ground level was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 191 knots.
The touchdown point was 441 meters beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 152 knots was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -110 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,698 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 16.9 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 447 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 61 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -1,088 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The F-35C Lightning aircraft successfully landed at EPOK Oksywie Military Air Base, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 317.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,195 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 77.8%.
The aircraft's approach to the runway was satisfactory, but there were some discrepancies in the threshold height and speed. The threshold height at 85 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. Conversely, the threshold speed was well above the target at 191 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been descending too quickly or that the pilot may have been applying too much power.
The touchdown point was 441 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the ideal landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 152 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -110 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating that the pilot had good control over the aircraft's descent. The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 9.0 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight drift or a miscalculation by the pilot.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 6 knots at 270°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 4 knots, which is relatively light and should not have significantly impacted the landing. The total landing distance was 1,698 meters, which is 68% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop safely within the available runway.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.9 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight drift or a miscalculation by the pilot during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the F-35C Lightning aircraft was able to safely touch down and come to a stop within the available runway, demonstrating its capabilities and reliability.
