MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,778 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,778 m of the 3,063 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 775 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport, with the Airbus A320 taking off into a local weather condition of 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 143 degrees. The aircraft experienced a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The takeoff distance was 1,162 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 152 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead Charlwood in Surrey, England, at an altitude of 1,219 feet above sea level. The climb continued to an altitude of 27,585 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,366 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 18 miles northwest of Veulettes-sur-Mer in Normandie, France, and lasted for 69 minutes, covering a distance of 148 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 1 mile southwest of Souppes-sur-Loing in Ile-de-France, France, from an altitude of 27,829 feet above sea level to 4,932 feet above sea level, a decrease of 22,896 feet in 27 minutes, covering a distance of 141 nautical miles. Another enroute level cruise then started 1 mile southeast of Coutouvre in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France, and lasted for 87 minutes, covering a distance of 65 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at Grenoble-Isère Airport was made from the east, heading 270.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,341 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 27, which was 3,063 meters long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was good at 140 knots, and the touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -210 feet per minute.
The touchdown point was 291 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centreline. The local weather condition at the time of landing was 9°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 199 degrees, with a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,629 meters, which was 53% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centreline.
The total flight distance was 425 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 90 minutes. The aircraft used 3,499 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LFLS Grenoble-Isère Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,341 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 27, which has a length of 3,063 meters.
The pilot maintained a good threshold height and speed, touching down at 140 knots. The touchdown point was 291 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is considered acceptable. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was also within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate of -210 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, indicating that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
One notable issue during the landing was the misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 10.8 meters. This could have been due to various factors, including wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 199°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,629 meters was 53% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 10.8 meters from the centerline, which could have been a result of the initial touchdown misalignment. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown rate and runway alignment.
