MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,462 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,462 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 385 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 18L at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,127 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 162 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 190°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Aalsmeerderbrug, in the province of Noord-Holland, Netherlands. The climb started from an altitude of 1,002 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 34,086 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,084 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 75 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 28 miles northwest of Westkapelle, in the province of Zeeland, Netherlands, and lasted for 30 minutes, covering a distance of 182 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 5 miles southwest of Freshwater, on the Isle of Wight, England. The descent started from an altitude of 34,042 feet above sea level and reached a minimum altitude of 2,009 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,033 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 84 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time starting 17 miles west of EGJB Guernsey Airport, Saint Peter Port, in the Forest, Guernsey. This cruise lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at EGJB Guernsey Airport was made from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,242 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 09 at EGJB Guernsey Airport was successful, with a runway length of 1,462 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed at 146 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 386 meters, but the touchdown speed was fast at 134 knots, resulting in a hard touchdown rate of -448 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 170°, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,248 meters, which is 85% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 363 nautical miles, taking a total of 76 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,873 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at Guernsey Airport (EGJB) with a score of 90.3%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 88.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,242 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 09, which has a length of 1,462 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed, coming in at 146 knots. This may have been due to the aircraft's approach configuration or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed for the landing.
The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits, measuring 386 meters. However, the touchdown speed was slightly faster than desired, coming in at 134 knots. This resulted in a hard touchdown rate of -448 feet per minute (fpm), which may have put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, deviating by 6.0 meters. This may have been due to the crosswind component, which was 5 knots, or the pilot's decision to align the aircraft with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 170°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing.
The total landing distance was 1,248 meters, which is 85% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment with the runway centerline after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, including the high threshold speed and the hard touchdown rate. However, the pilot's ability to maintain a good runway rollout alignment and stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown was commendable.
