Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,676 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,676 m of the 3,889 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 727 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-200ER taxied from the parking area to runway 27 at KSAN San Diego International Airport in 9 minutes, covering 4 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 27, the aircraft accelerated for a takeoff distance of 974 m, representing 42 % of the runway, and lifted off at 164 kt. Local weather at the time was Temperature 27 °C, Wind 9 kt from 237 °, with a cross-wind component of 7 kt and a head-wind component of 6 kt.
The first en-route climb began 1 mile west of KSAN, climbing from 972 ft asl to 34 997 ft asl - an increase of 34 025 ft - over 23 minutes while covering 165 nm.
The next climb segment started 16 miles south of UT74 Fry Canyon Field, rising from 34 997 ft asl to 36 993 ft asl, a gain of 1 996 ft in 3 minutes and traversing 30 nm.
A further climb commenced 63 miles west of CSF3 Poste Montagnais (Mile 134) Airport, ascending from 36 986 ft asl to 38 996 ft asl, an increase of 2 009 ft during 3 minutes and covering 30 nm.
The first cruise segment began 7 miles north-west of 72CL Iron Mountain Pumping Plant Airport, lasting 34 minutes and covering 307 nm at level flight.
The second cruise phase started 11 miles west of Blanding, Utah, and continued for 210 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 1 977 nm.
The third cruise segment originated 32 miles west of CSF3 Poste Montagnais (Mile 134) Airport, lasting 253 minutes and encompassing 2 290 nm.
Descent commenced overhead Blacon, Cheshire, England, with the aircraft descending from 38 939 ft asl to 1 409 ft asl - a loss of 37 530 ft - in 30 minutes while covering 158 nm.
The final approach to runway 27R at EGLL London Heathrow Airport was flown from the east, heading 270.0 ° at 4 nm and 1 319 ft agl, followed by a descent from 1 363 ft agl to 92 ft agl in 111 seconds, during which the aircraft scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 27R, which is 3 889 m long, the aircraft achieved a threshold speed of 132 kt; the threshold height at 61 ft agl was above target. Touchdown occurred 311 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 123 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 150 fpm and a runway touchdown position offset 4.1 m from the centreline. Local weather at landing was Temperature 12 °C, Wind 4 kt from 290 °, with a cross-wind of 1 kt and a head-wind of 3 kt. Total landing distance was 1 596 m, representing 41 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered a total distance of 4 972 nm, required 570 minutes of flight time, and consumed 63 556 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-200ER approached runway 27R at EGLL from the east on a heading of 270.0° at 4 nm and 1,319 ft agl. The final approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,363 ft agl to 92 ft agl in 111 seconds.
At threshold the aircraft was 61 ft agl, which was above the target height, while the threshold speed of 132 kt was recorded as good.
Touchdown occurred 311 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 123 kt, both judged good, and the vertical rate was -150 fpm, also good. The touchdown point was slightly off centreline by 4.1 m, and the total landing distance was 1,596 m, representing 41 % of the 3,889 m runway.
Rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft remained well aligned with the centreline for the remainder of the roll.
To improve the score, reduce the threshold height to meet the target and aim to place the touchdown point nearer the intended zone, which will further optimise runway usage while preserving the excellent rollout alignment.
