MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,579 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,579 m of the 3,064 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 944 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The 2.04 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from London Heathrow Airport, the Boeing 777-200ER began its takeoff roll on runway 09R, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 179 kt. The aircraft cleared the runway threshold in 2,323 meters, utilizing 69% of the available runway length. As it lifted off, the aircraft was subjected to a gentle headwind of 4 kt and a crosswind of 7 kt, with a temperature of 17 °C.
The enroute climb phase commenced 1 mile north of Feltham, with the aircraft ascending from 976 ft to 5,267 ft in a mere 3 minutes, covering 12 nm. This initial climb was followed by a brief level cruise phase overhead Thornton Heath, lasting 5 minutes and covering 24 nm. The aircraft then began a more significant climb phase, ascending from 5,807 ft to 32,131 ft in 18 minutes, covering 119 nm. This climb phase was punctuated by several level cruise phases, including a notable 65-minute cruise phase overhead Zingem, covering 511 nm. The aircraft continued to climb and cruise, eventually reaching a maximum altitude of 35,699 ft.
As the aircraft began its descent into Malé International Airport, it started its final approach to runway 36 from the south, maintaining a heading of 360.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,269 ft agl. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 136 kt, and the touchdown point was 518 m beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 111 kt, and the touchdown rate was -946 fpm, indicating a heavy touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.0 m from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 7.7 m from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,488 m, utilizing 57% of the available runway length. The total flight distance was 4,907 nm, taking 604 minutes, and the aircraft consumed 8,778 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-200ER touched down on runway 36 at VRMM Malé International Airport, marking a satisfactory conclusion to the approach from the south. The aircraft's descent was well-managed, with a good threshold height achieved, and the threshold speed of 136 kt was also within acceptable limits. As the aircraft made contact with the runway, the touchdown speed of 111 kt was noted to be within the desired range, indicating a controlled approach.
However, the touchdown characteristics revealed some areas for improvement. The touchdown point was located 518 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slightly longer than ideal landing. Furthermore, the touchdown rate of -946 fpm was deemed very heavy, suggesting that the aircraft may have been touching down with too much energy. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was found to be slightly misaligned by 6.0 m from the centreline, which may have contributed to the heavy touchdown rate.
The aircraft's rollout was also not entirely smooth, with a slight misalignment of 7.7 m from the centreline noted. Despite these minor issues, the total landing distance of 1,488 m, which accounted for 57% of the runway, was within acceptable limits. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 32 °C and a headwind of 7 kt, may have played a role in the aircraft's performance. Overall, the landing was scored 84.9%, reflecting the satisfactory but not outstanding nature of the approach and touchdown.
